Effective communication is one of our most important skills, but so often communication is hampered by defensive feelings in ourselves and others. When we feel under attack, we can easily misinterpret the simplest messages. This program shows viewers how to reduce defensiveness and to avoid provoking it in others. It includes the eight key principles of non defensive communication: (1) listening, (2) being diplomatic, (3) ceasing fire, (4) cooling off, (5) focusing on the work, (6) empathizing, (7) considering timing, and (8) objectifying the issues.
