Sheila Hicks is one of Nebraska's premier artists with an international reputation as a pioneer of textile art and creator of large-scale art in public spaces. This program examines the roots of Hicks' creative process, her artistic inspirations and how she has translated her impressions into works of art. In 1998, Hicks returned to Hastings, Nebraska, her birthplace, to install an exhibit at Hastings College. This documentary follows her as she shows and discusses her art, works with students and installs an exhibit. She revisits familiar landscapes and places, recounting the lasting influence that her Nebraska roots, both people and places have had on her art.
