Title: " Black Literature "
Black literature includes a dynamic and forceful body of work by writers with a wide variety of experience and styles. Part one: Children begin the series by providing background on dialect, black life styles and the racism often found in American literature. Part two: History. From the 18th century, black writers have produced, but the early writings are often under the oppressive influence of the slave system. In the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920's and later, black writers rediscovered their roots. Part three: Teaching black literature, for a white teacher, is often difficult. The temptation to alter the language and experience of the black writer is great. Accuracy is essential for an understanding of the black experience.
