Title:   " E. F. Schumacher: Economist "

The controversial British economist is interviewed by a panel of Nebraska economists, moderated by Dr. Heckman. According to Dr. E.F. Schumacher, the market mechanism is inadequate to the task of solving both current and future economic problems because, he says, "it has no anticipatory powers." Dr. Schumacher seems to prefer rigorous analysis and affirmative action over both ideology and the notion that the economy will adjust itself through the market mechanism. "There isn't time for waiting," he warns. "We must take action now. We must get out of this situation in which we dream of solutions."
