Title: " Flowers of the Motherland: Chinese Children at Preschool "
Since the institution of the one child per family policy in l979, the Chinese preschool has taken on a critical role in Chinese society. This program, videotaped on location at a preschool in the city of Guanghou, China, documents a typical day of four kindergarten children. The songs the children sing, the games they play, and their various classroom activities give us a look at modern Chinese culture and beliefs. Interviews with parents, teachers and school administrators illustrate the concerns and efforts to instill the cultural values and traditions that characterize China.
