Title:   " Exploring the Evidence "

This second program shows how the historian, anthropologist and archeologist have reconstructed the Native American's life from a loose assemblage of data. As Scott Momaday points out, a good starting point can be found in the stories and legends passed down through generations. But then, that information must be confirmed by archeological studies where a tangled pile of bone can tell the careful researcher much about the people who left it. And finally, the study of Plains Indian culture is enhanced by the existence of paintings completed by early artists who were concerned with accurate information as well as aesthetics.
