Title:   " Depression (from THE GREAT PLAINS EXPERIENCE series) "

In the 1930s, the land again asserted its power over the people who lived on it. The effects of drought and depression were most acute in the psychic effects they produced in those who lived through it. For this reason, this program concentrates on the personal stories of several people who lived through the decade -- stories of a region uprooted and confused, of a banker worried about keeping the bank open, of foreclosures and violent action, and stories of the strength that allowed the retention of dignity.
