Title:   " Dust and Drought "

This final program examines the conditions that created the Dust Bowl in the 30s. With Allan Hanway and C. Bertrand Schultz, Stegner outlines the farming practices that broke up the grasslands and laid it bare to drought and erosion. But through conservation practices begun during the 30s, the threat of drought has been reduced. Again, just as the Native Americans had to adapt to this unique environment, we have had to adapt to conditions on the Great Plains.
