Title: " Problem Solving In The Information Age "
This program focuses on the use of the computer to solve problems encountered in the workplace. Using a case study approach, the
program provides examples of businesses working through the problem-solving process using technological/computer tools.
Businesses featured include two Nebraska-based corporations: The Buckle, a retail clothing operation targeting high school and
college aged customers, and Cabela's, one of the world's largest sporting outfitters. Both of these fast growing operations have
incorporated technology to improve productivity and bolster the bottom line.
The other company spotlighted is EDS, a multi-billion dollar company involved in assessing client's information requirements and
designing technological solutions. EDS was the official information systems company of the US Olympic Committee and of the Barcelona
Olympics, and is currently working with systems design for the US Cycling Federation. This program is appropriate for use in college
computer science and business courses.
